"The beauty of this whole thing is that, OnlyLink has our best interest at heart…their engineers work hard to propose a cost effective solutions and they literally stand behind every commitment they make.  Mr. Sundaram meets with us once a month if not more to help us plan our infrastructure to accommodate our growing business needs in a very cost-effective manner."

Robert Zeffert, Owner, Zeffert & Associates, an Affiliate of Compliance Solutions, St. Louis

Bob Zeffert knew last year that his Zeffert & Associates needed to replace its computer servers and network systems. “Our servers were on the verge of failure. We had been employing an inhouse IT person, who could handle part of the improvements,” but not all of them, Zeffert said.

The Westport-based company couldn’t afford any down time. Zeffert has a staff of 28 and generates $2 million a year consulting nationally to 1,500 clients in the affordable housing industry. They range from real estate investors who have to make sure their tenants meet government income requirements to the states of Nebraska and Michigan, which have to make sure apartment owners meet federal regulations.

Harish Sundaram grew up in Bangalore, which is India's version of Silicon Valley, but he founded his technology company in St. Louis.

He came here for a master's degree and a job, and stayed because he liked it here. His 14-year-old Internet services company, OnlyLink, has built an impressive list of customers that ranges from small local firms to giant companies like Microsoft.

Sundaram's story would be a common one in places like Austin or Chicago or the Research Triangle of North Carolina. In St. Louis, it's all too rare.
